In Tampa, Fla., GTE Financial EVP Aaron Bresko takes the plunge for charity on "Dunk Day." GTE raised $33,700 for United Way Suncoast. The CU is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2015 by offering special incentives throughout the year.
Santa Ana, Calif.-based Orange County's CU selected its 2015 Youth Scholarship winners. For the sixth consecutive year, three exceptional students who achieved academic excellence and dedicated themselves to giving back to their communities each received a $500 scholarship.
Notre Dame FCU, Notre Dame, Ind., awarded eight students with scholarships of $1,500 each, plus 2016 summer internships within the credit union department of their choosing.
Land of Lincoln CU, Decatur, Ill., opened two new branches: one in Springfield, Ill., and one in Normal, Ill. The CU now has 12 branches in Illinois.
LAFCU, Lansing, Mich., awarded its 2015 "Write to Educate" $2,500 college scholarship to Hadleigh Buchler. As part of the contest award, Buchler chose the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Shiawassee County to receive a $500 donation from LAFCU.
LBS Financial CU, Long Beach, Calif., awarded scholarships to 35 students in Long Beach, Lakewood, Cerritos and surrounding communities.
Jeanne D'Arc CU, Lowell, Mass., said My Father's House, a nonprofit that provides a residential parenting program for homeless pregnant and parenting young women, is the winner of the latest "Give a Click" campaign on the CU's website.
Neighbors CU, St. Louis, awarded four, $1,200 scholarships to MyBux members at its annual meeting.
In Fitchburg, Mass., IC FCU's "Change for Charity" will collect a percentage of all coin machine transactions done by members and non-members alike for three months, with proceeds going to GVNA HealthCare, a provider of home health services.
Marion Community CU, Marion, Ohio, sponsored the grand prize at a local Women's Expo event a trip for two to St. Petersburg, Fla. Separately, the CU raised $1,400 for Relay for Life with t-shirt and luminaries sales.
NorthRidge Community CU, Hoyt Lakes, Minn., filled an inflatable swimming pool with donated goods for a local food shelf.
Pacific Marine CU, Oceanside, Calif., awarded several scholarships in its local community.
