Save to Win winner

A member of St. Helens Community CU, St. Helens, Ore., was the latest winner in the Save to Win prize-linked savings program. The Save to Win program encourages CU members across the country to save more toward their future by offering cash prizes of up to $5,000. Scappoose resident Jarad Williams was selected as a $500 multi-state prizewinner.

Sikorsky's Reality Fairs

Sikorsky CU, Stratford, Conn., sponsored Financial Reality Fairs at three local high schools: Ansonia, Oxford and Seymour HS. This is the ninth year Sikorsky CU has held Financial Reality Fairs for students in several local communities.

NEFCU shreds

Each year, New England FCU hosts free, open-to-the-public Shred Fest events at its main branch in Williston, Vt., to help people protect themselves against identity theft. This year’s Spring Shred Fest saw 25,000 lbs. – or more than 12 tons – of documents destroyed.

Nonprofit contributions

Employees of Redwood CU, Santa Rosa, Calif., contributed more than $45,000 to local nonprofits by sponsoring, fundraising and participating in Human Race events in Sonoma, Marin and Mendocino counties. More than 100 volunteers, including employees, family and friends, walked or ran in the Sonoma and Mendocino county races, while RCU’s Marin and Napa county branches raised funds through the Bay Area Human Race at the Marin County Fairgrounds.

Honoring growth and progress

United Savings CU, Fargo, N.D., received the Growth & Progress Award by the Credit Union Association of the Dakotas at CUAD’s annual Summit Awards Banquet. This prestigious award is given to one credit union per year which has exceeded the state’s average increase in four categories: assets, shares, loans outstanding and membership increase.

Veridian awards scholarships

Veridian CU, Waterloo, Iowa, awarded $8,000 in scholarships to 4 Iowa students pursuing higher education. Applicants submitted a 500-word essay and professional resume. A panel of Veridian staff and board members selected recipients in four categories to receive $2,000 each.
