Processor Vantiv Certifies NCR Software to Run on Any ATM

NCR announced Wednesday that Cincinnati payments processor Vantiv has certified NCR's Aptra Edge ATM software. That means that Vantiv (formerly Fifth Third Processing) will allow NCR's ATM management software to run over its network on any teller machine, according to a press release.

The Duluth, Ga. ATM company said that now banks will be able to choose to run its software over many different ATMs, despite their makers.

Previously NCR was certified to run on Vantiv's network for just its own ATMs.

"Momentum for multivendor ATM software has been building for several years, and network support is critical to ongoing growth," said Nicole Sturgill, CEB TowerGroup research director, in the NCR release. "As more banks adopt multivendor environments to improve the customer experience and create operating efficiencies, we expect more networks to support multivendor ATM software."

Vantiv's network backs roughly 12,000 ATMs, nationwide.
