30-Year Loan Rate Continues Declining

The average rate for a 30-year, fixed home loan fell for the third straight week, offering a boost to potential buyers who may use a government tax credit to buy a home.

The 30-year rate dropped to 4.83% in the week ended Thursday, the lowest since May, from 4.91% the previous week, Freddie Mac said Thursday.

The average 15-year rate fell to 4.32%, its lowest since record keeping began in 1991.
