Accounting Chief to Leave Discover

Discover Financial Services Inc. said its senior vice president of finance and chief accounting officer, Mark A. Zaeske, plans to resign.

Zaeske's resignation is to take effect Friday. The news came about a month after his boss, Roy A. Guthrie, an executive vice president, notified the card company of his intent to retire in the summer of 2011. Zaeske joined the Riverwoods, Ill., company last year. Previously, he was the western hemisphere regional executive for JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s treasury, liquidity and investment products unit.

"We are grateful for Mark's contributions and wish Mark well in his new position," said Guthrie in a regulatory filing Tuesday.

A Discover spokeswoman said Zaeske left the company to become the head of finance at a private investment firm in Connecticut.
