Amalgamated Bank of Chicago Taps Next President

Amalgamated Bank of Chicago has named David Knopp its next president.

Knopp will also retain his position as chief operating officer, the $764 million-asset company announced Tuesday. He assumes the president role from Robert Wrobel, 63, who will remain Amalgamated's chairman and chief executive.

Knopp, 59, has been with Amalgamated since 1992, and also serves on the board of directors. Previously, he had been a regional manager for Cole Taylor Bank in Chicago.

"This promotion is well deserved recognition for [Knopp's] leadership and management of our lending, trust and retail banking functions," said Wrobel in a news release. "I look forward to continuing to work with him and the rest of our Amalgamated colleagues to serve our ever growing base of clients in the months and years ahead."
