Having already joined NYCE’s surcharge free ATM network, AMCORE Bank is enhancing its bet on electronic payments by signing a deal to allow the NYCE Network to be the exclusive provider of both PIN debit and ATM card access. The arrangement will enhance NYCE’s presence in northern Illinois, where is has been establishing a beachhead for the past several years, and will be part of the bank’s goal to expand its electronic payments volume by offering greater access to retail and ATM locations while removing surcharges at a greater number of locations the same time.
“It’s an important move to create increased volume to compensate for the surcharge free environment,” says Steve Rathgaber, president of the Secaucus, N.J. based NYCE, a subsidiary of Metavante. Developed and administered by NYCE, the SUM Selective Surcharging Program, which AMCORE previously joined, allows cardholders to make surcharge free withdrawals at designated ATMs of other SUM program members. And in signing the Rockford, IL-based AMCORE, NYCE has furthered its presence in the Chicago area, where it also has a relationship with Harris Bank, Wintrust Bank and a number of other institutions.
“The deal’s in a part of the country that proves NYCE can serve constituents in any geography,” says Rathgaber.
