Astoria Providing Shuttle Service from Storm-Damaged Branches

Astoria Federal Savings expects to reopen its Coney Island branch on a limited basis Wednesday to allow customers to view their safety deposit boxes.

A branch in Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn that took on four feet of water during superstorm Sandy remains closed but the Lake Success, N.Y., bank is working with restoration crews to rebuild the branch quickly.

Meanwhile, Astoria is providing hourly round-trip shuttle service from those two branches to a third branch in Marine Park, Brooklyn, says Brian Edwards, an Astoria executive vice president and managing director of retail banking.

Three branches in Nassau County including two in Floral Park and one in Oceanside remain closed because they do not have power.
