Atlantic Southern Bank of Macon, Ga., will open its first Florida branch in Jacksonville.
The $789 million-asset bank, a unit of Atlantic Southern Financial Group Inc., announced last month that it would enter the Sunshine State by acquiring the Florida banking charter of CenterState Bank Mid Florida in Leesburg for roughly $1 million.
The charter became available after CenterState's parent, the $1.2 billion-asset CenterState Banks of Florida Inc. in Winter Haven, consolidated its two Florida subsidiaries.
Late Wednesday, Atlantic Southern Bank said that it expects to open the Jacksonville branch by Nov. 30.
