Bank of America Corp.'s website suffered an outage starting Monday that has temporarily halted online banking to customers in California.
"We're experiencing intermittent service disruptions as a result of routine updates over the weekend," said Tara Burke, a B of A spokeswoman, on Tuesday. The outage did not affect all customers though other states could be affected as well, Burke said. B of A is trying to restore normal service, she said.
The company posted a message on its site that said: "Online banking is temporarily unavailable for CA customers."
B of A has 29 million customers who bank online and Burke said the outage was not related to any form of cyber attack and there "is no risk to customer information or security."
B of A also experienced a partial outage in January.
