MasterCard Inc. announced Tuesday that it appointed Ajay Bhalla president of DataCash Group PLC.

The Purchase, N.Y., payment network said Bhalla will be in charge of DataCash's fraud tool and risk-management services, as well as all its operations. Bhalla joined MasterCard in 1992 and most recently was division president for Southeast and South Asia.
MasterCard bought DataCash, a U.K. credit card processor, in October to expand its e-commerce business.
In December the payment network announced an agreement to buy the prepaid program management assets of Travelex Holdings Ltd. in London.
Before joining MasterCard, Bhalla worked at HSBC Holdings PLC and Xerox Corp.
