BofI Mourns Loss of a Founder

BofI Holding (BOFI) in San Diego, the parent of BofI Federal Bank, is mourning the passing of Jerry F. Englert, a company founder and member of the board of directors.

Englert was president and chief executive officer of BofI from July 1999 to October 2004 and chairman of the board from 1999 to 2009, the $3.8 billion-asset company said in a press release.

Chairman Ted Allrich and President and CEO Greg Garrabrants praised Englert for his commitment to BofI, his expert advice and unique leadership style.

"We have lost an irreplaceable friend and contributor," the executives said in the release. "Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with his family."
