Calif. Bank Hires Regulator as Chief Risk Officer

Bay Commercial Bank (BCML) in Walnut Creek, Calif., has appointed a state regulator as its new chief risk officer and senior vice president.

Izabella Zhu comes to the $326 million-asset company from the California Department of Business Oversight, where she was a senior financial institutions examiner and a founding member of the examiner council. She held her position there from 2007 to 2013, according to her LinkedIn page. Zhu has also served as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley, her LinkedIn page reports.

A certified fiduciary investment risk specialist, Zhu holds a master’s degree in public administration in international development from Harvard University.
