California Backs Mergers of Failed CUs

California regulators have approved three more mergers of failed state-chartered credit unions.

California Printing and Publishing Employees Credit Union, a one-time $11 million-asset credit union in Riverside, has been merged into the $27 million-asset Printing Industries Credit Union in Los Angeles. Vernon/Commerce Credit Union, a one-time $11 million-asset credit union in Commerce, has been merged into the $81 million-asset Pasadena Service Federal Credit Union.

Also, El Futuro Credit Union, a one-time $10 million-asset credit union chartered by United Farm Workers organizer Cesar Chavez, has been merged into Self-Help Federal Credit Union, the rapidly growing community development credit union chartered 18 months ago by North Carolina's Center for Community Self-Help.
