A proposal released last week would allow foreign banks to consolidate their reserve accounts at a single Federal Reserve bank.

The Federal Reserve Board, which issued the proposal Aug. 5, now requires all foreign banks to maintain accounts at the reserve banks that cover every state where they maintain offices.
