NBS Technologies has been awarded a $1 million contract to supply a point of sale system for UAP Inc., the Canadian automobile parts supplier.

The new system will allow for the processing of Interac direct debit transactions as well as UAP private-label credit cards.

Interac is the Canadian national debit service.

Toronto-Dominion Bank and AT&T Global Information Solutions will also be working to develop the full system for UAP. The strategic alliance was initiated by Toronto-Dominion's merchant services division.

The system has been in testing in Montreal since last August. It is now being rolled out across Canada in more than 900 stores supplying UAP auto parts and accessories. In total, UAP has more than 4,000 sales outlets across Canada.
