TAMPA - The Smart Card Forum has formed a Retail Work Group to promote chip-card acceptance in retailing locations.
Bev Matson, director of major accounts for Verifone Inc., and Martha Campbell, senior vice president, BankAmerica Corp., will co-chair the new group.
Retail members of the forum, an interindustry group supporting education and implementation in chip-card technology, include Mobil Oil Corp., Shell Oil Corp., Marsh Supermarkets, and J.C. Penney Co.
The group will explore how chip technology can be used for credit, debit, and stored-value applications, ATM access, customer loyalty and reward programs, electronics benefits transfer, and for security, access and identification.
