Cardtronics Inc. has struck a multiyear deal to manage automated teller machines at about 800 Kroger Inc. grocery stores.

The Houston ATM network operator did not give a value for the contract, which was announced Monday.

Cardtronics will be responsible for installation, cash management, maintenance, customer service, monitoring and transaction processing, starting later this quarter.

Cardtronics will include the machines in its Allpoint surcharge-free ATM network.

Most of the stores have one ATM, though a few might have one or two more, said Joel Antonini, a Cardtronics spokesman.

He was uncertain whether the deal could eventually expand to include machines deployed in Kroger's 2,700 other locations.
