Cardtronics to Add 3,700 ATMs with EDC ATM Acquisition

Cardtronics Inc. said Tuesday that it entered a deal to buy EDC ATM Subsidiary LLC and Efmark Deployment I Inc., adding an additional 3,700 automated teller machines to its fleet.

Cardtronics, of Houston, said it would own or operate over 41,000 ATMs after buying the EDC businesses. Cardtronics said it would pay $145 million, adjusted for working capital at the closing date, for the Walnut Creek, Calif., EDC businesses.

Cardtronics said it expects the acquisitions to close during the third quarter, pending regulatory approvals. Cardtronics said the EDC machines would improve its fleet in the Midwest and Great Lakes regions, doubling its presence in some states.
