CCB FINANCIAL Corp., Durham, N.C., has named William L. Burns Jr. chairman of the board. He succeeds the late George Watts Hill, who died in January,.

Mr. Burns retired in 1992 as president and chief executive officer of both CCB and Central Carolina Bank, the holding company's principal subsidiary.

Ernest C. Roessler, who officially succeeded Mr. Burns in those positions on April 6, and James B. Brame Jr., president and chief executive officer of Brame Specialty Co., Durham, were elected as directors.
