CenterState in Fla. plans $60M stock sale

CenterState Banks in Winter Haven, Fla., is looking to raise at least $60 million through a public offering.

The $5 billion-asset company said in a press release Monday that it plans to sell about 2.5 million shares of common stock to underwriters Keefe, Bruyette & Woods and Raymond James. The underwriters have an option to sell another 245,000 shares if there is enough demand.

CenterState said it plans to use the net proceeds for general corporate purposes.

The company has been acquisitive in recent months, agreeing to buy Platinum Bank in Brandon, Fla., and Gateway Financial Holdings of Florida in Daytona Beach.
