CFPB Hire

Clifford Rosenthal has been hired to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's Office of Financial Empowerment.

Rosenthal has been serving as chief executive of the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions. He announced the move on the group's website.

"I am enormously excited about this new opportunity, which will enable me to work on developing and implementing financial services and products for traditionally underserved communities and consumers — the kind of work that I and the Federation have been pursuing for more than 30 years," Rosenthal wrote.

The office he will head develops programs that help low-income consumers make smarter financial decisions, the CFPB said.
