CNB to buy thrift in Evansville, Ind.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- CNB Bancshares has announced a definitive agreement to acquire UF Bancorp, the parent of Union Federal Savings Bank in Evansville, in a $73 million deal.

UF Bancorp had $537 million of assets on Sept. 30 and shareholders' equity of $45.8 million.

CNB, which has assets of $2.6 billion, expects to complete the transaction in mid-1995, subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals.
