Coast Federal offers airline discounts.

LOS ANGELES -- Coast Federal Bank is again offering discounts of up to 43% on around-trip airline tickets to customers traveling to most major cities in the continental United States.

The promotion, offered in association with Northwest Airlines, is available to customers who deposit $750 into a new or existing checking account; $2,500 into a new or existing saving account; or to customers who open or renew a $5,000 certificate of deposit. Customers who take out auto loans, home loans, or who purchase tax-deferred annuities also qualify.

They are granted two vouchers good for two discount airline tickets. Ticket prices differ according to destination and season. But the thrift said a round-trip summer fare between Los Angeles and Miami would be $308, $232 less than current prices.

Coast and Northwest have offered discounts for three years. Coast Federal Bank is the principal subsidiary of Coast Savings Financial Inc., which has $8.3 billion of assets.
