Collection Agency Will Close in July

Collection agency Primary Financial Services LLC, in Amherst, N.Y., will close in July, the company announced this week after filing a worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice with the New York State Department of Labor. The closing will put 121 people out of work.

The company was sold in 2011 to CBV Collection Services, a 93-year-old Canadian company based in North York, Ontario. That sale included Primary Financial’s headquarters in Phoenix. CBV acquired Buffalo, N.Y. collection agency, Pentagroup Financial, last year.

Primary Financial collects debts on behalf of clients such as Toyota, Discover and the University of Phoenix. The company will keep 13 people in administrative roles in the Buffalo area and consolidate the rest of its work at the Arizona location. CBV will continue to do business in the U.S. as Primary Financial.
