Columbia Names Executive

Columbia Bank in Maryland promoted John A. Scaldara Jr. to executive vice president from senior vice president; he remains chief financial officer.

Mr. Scaldara joined the bank in 1989 and now is its chief administrator, overseeing finance, human resources, and loan accounting. He is also corporate secretary for the bank and its holding company, Columbia Bancorp.

Before starting in banking, he had worked in the audit and consulting services division at KPMG Peat Marwick.
