Compass Puts Philip Webb At the Helm In Pensacola

Compass Bank in Birmingham, Ala., has named Philip Webb as its city president for Pensacola, Fla.

He was based 60 miles west, in Fairhope, Ala., as the bank's senior commercial lender for Baldwin County, Ala.

Mr. Webb, who has 25 years' experience in banking, joined Compass in 1984 as a vice president in the real estate group in Birmingham. He was transferred to Fairhope in 1995.

In Pensacola he succeeded Charles Alcott, who left to pursue other interests, the bank said. Mr. Alcott, a 22 year banking veteran, had been with Compass since 1992.

Compass Bank is a subsidiary of $17.3 billion-asset Compass Bancshares.
