Credit Union Picks Firethorn Mobile

Firethorn Holdings LLC said Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union has recently begun using its mobile banking system.

The Atlanta unit of Qualcomm Inc. has developed a PSECU-branded iPhone application. It lets credit union members view their account balances, gain access to transaction histories, transfer funds and pay bills.

"PSECU maintains a branchless business model, so expanding into the mobile environment gives them a new opportunity to provide members with innovative and convenient services," Rocco Fabiano, Firethorn's president said in a press release Wednesday.

Gergory A. Smith, PSECU's president, said in the release, "Our members like the added convenience of managing their finances on the go." The Firethorn system gives them "access [to] time-sensitive information" at any time.

PSECU has about 370,000 members and about $3.6 billion of assets.
