Diebold, Turkish Bank in Deal

Vakifbank in Ankara, the fifth-largest bank in Turkey, has signed an automated teller machine and software deal with Diebold Inc.

Diebold will provide 575 image-enabled ATMs to Vakifbank. The machines will be equipped with coin dispensers and an enhanced note acceptor, and will support both cash deposits and bill payments.

"This agreement with Vakifbank is a milestone for Diebold's presence in Turkey, which is one of our top growth markets in the" Europe-Middle East-Africa region, Danilo Rivalta, a Diebold vice president and its general manager for the EMEA southern and central region, said in a press release Wednesday.

The Canton, Ohio, ATM maker recently made amends with the Securities and Exchange Commission over a long-running accounting issue, agreeing in June to pay a $25 million penalty.
