EagleBank Hires Three Virginia Commerce Executives

EagleBank in Bethesda, Md., has hired three former Virginia Commerce Bank executives.

The bank appointed Steven Reeder as chief deposit officer, according to a Thursday press release. Reeder held the same role at Virginia Commerce, which was acquired by United Bankshares (UBSI) in early February. He previously served as senior vice president at BB&T (BBT) in Northern Virginia.

The $3.8 billion-asset bank, which is owned by Eagle Bancorp (EGBN), also appointed Christopher Ewing as deputy chief operating officer. Ewing was the chief operations officer and chief risk officer at Virginia Commerce. Before that, he held senior roles with Beneficial Bank in Philadelphia, Pa., Capital One Bank in McLean, Va., and TD Bank, formerly Commerce Bank, in Mount Laurel, N.J.

EagleBank named Mark Merrill as executive vice president of finance. Merrill was chief financial and accounting officer at Virginia Commerce Bank and CFO at its holding company, Virginia Commerce Bancorp.

"It is a statement of our success that three such successful local bank executives have elected to further their careers at EagleBank," Chairman and Chief Executive Ronald Paul said in the release. "With the success we have worked continuously to attain, it is critical in positioning our management team for the future to have the benefit of such talent and leadership."
