Entrust Offers Mobile SDK

Entrust Inc. has begun offering a mobile software development kit for users of its IdentityGuard authentication system.

The Dallas vendor said Tuesday that the SDK allows banks to more easily use its authentication system in their mobile banking applications.

Bill Conner, Entrust's president and chief executive, said in a press release that although IdentityGuard Mobile was well received when it launched last year, "what we heard from customers is that they found even more value in the ability to embed the technology into their own applications."

Doing so would add "brand consistency" and other benefits to using IdentityGuard, Conner said. "It's important for banks to ensure there's consistent branding between their website, secure mobile banking application and even branch locations."

The SDK allows banks to use software-based tokens and out-of-band authentication to improve security for online banking logins. It also allows banks to improve the security of their mobile banking sessions.
