Ex-MBNA Counsel Trudel Changes Law Firms

A former lawyer for one of the nation's biggest credit card issuers has a new home for his practice.

Glen Trudel, an attorney who specializes in credit card transactions, has joined the law firm Ballard Spahr as a partner in its Wilmington, Del., office.

Trudel, who for the past seven years has been a partner with the law firm of Connolly Bove Lodge & Hutz in Wilmington, previously served as senior vice president and counsel at MBNA, the credit card issuer acquired in 2006 by Bank of America (BAC).

According to Ballard Spahr, Trudel will be a member of the firm's consumer financial services, bank regulation and supervision, and transactional finance groups.

"We have been looking for many years to add an experienced banking and consumer financial services attorney to our Wilmington office because many of our clients are located there," Alan Kaplinsky, head of Ballard Spahr's consumer financial services group, said in a news release. "We hit paydirt with Glen. He has a wealth of experience in all areas of consumer financial services law, most notably credit, debit, and prepaid cards."

During his 14 years at MBNA, Trudel handled affinity and joint marketing agreements, sales of credit card portfolios and regulatory matters.
