Meta Financial Group Inc. of Storm Lake, Iowa, has hired John Hagy as the chief risk officer and general counsel for all its business units, including the $701 million-asset MetaBank and the $44 million-asset MetaBank West Central.
Mr. Hagy was the chief administrative officer and the general counsel for seven years at FSV Payment Systems Ltd., a Houston provider of electronic payroll and debit card products and services.
MIDDLE ATLANTICBryn Mawr Bank Corp. of Pennsylvania said John Pickering, the executive vice president for the wealth management division of its $748 million-asset Bryn Mawr Trust Co., has resigned.
The company said Ted Peters, the chairman, chief executive officer, and president of the bank and the parent company, has taken over Mr. Pickering's duties until a successor is found.
East Penn Financial Corp. of Emmaus, Pa., has named Brent L. Peters the chairman of the company and its $423 million-asset East Penn Bank.
Mr. Peters will remain the president and chief executive officer of the company and the bank, jobs he has had since East Penn Financial's formation in 2003 and East Penn Bank's founding in 1991.
SOUTHEASTPeoples BancTrust Co. Inc. of Selma, Ala., has hired Don J. Giardina as the president and chief executive officer of the company and its $868 million-asset Peoples Bank and Trust Co.
He will start his jobs Friday and will succeed Ted M. Henry, who has held the jobs on an interim basis since Walter A. Parrent died in May.
Mr. Giardina's career includes stints at two other Alabama banks. He had been the president and chief executive officer of The Bank of Birmingham (which changed its name to Superior Bank at the start of this year) and the president and CEO for Birmingham operations at Colonial Bank of Montgomery.
BankUnited Financial Corp. of Coral Gables, Fla., which owns the $12.9 billion-asset BankUnited FSB, has hired David J. Green as its treasurer.
Mr. Green was an asset/liability manager and a group vice president at SunTrust Bank in Atlanta. Before that he had been the chief investment officer and a senior vice president at First Capital Bank of Norcross, Ga., which Flag Financial Corp. of Atlanta bought last year.
SOUTHWESTSouthwest Securities of Dallas has hired David Frase as its executive vice president of mortgage warehousing.
Mr. Frase joined the $830 million-asset unit of SWS Group Inc. from Texas Capital Bank, where he had a similar job and title. He established Texas Capital's national warehousing program when he joined the bank in 2000.
Before that he had been a senior vice president of mortgage services at Provident Bank.
WESTColumbia Bancorp of The Dalles, Ore., has made Craig J. Ortega the president of its $954 million-asset Columbia River Bank.
Mr. Ortega, who was an executive vice president, will remain the bank's chief operating officer, a job he has had since 2004.
He joined the bank in 1993 as the manager of its Hood River branch and became an executive vice president in 1997.
As the president, he succeeded Roger Christensen, who will remain the bank's chief executive officer and the president and CEO of the parent company.
