Amcore Bank of Rockford, Ill., has hired Richard Stiles as the executive vice president of its commercial banking group.
Mr. Stiles came to the $5.3 billion-asset unit of Amcore Financial Inc. from Popular Inc. in Rosemont.
He was a senior vice president in the commercial banking group for the Puerto Rican bank company.
First Banks Inc. of St. Louis has made a series of senior management changes.
Steven F. Schepman has been promoted to director of corporate development and business segments. Mr. Schepman, who remains an executive vice president, had been the chief financial officer since 2005. For five years before that he had been First Banks' director of wealth management.
Lisa K. Vansickle, a senior vice president, succeeding Mr. Schepman as First Banks' CFO. She had been the controller since 1999, two years after joining the company as its director of internal audit.
First Banks also has given F. Christopher McLaughlin the additional job of retail director. He remains an executive vice president and the director of sales, marketing, and products, a job he has had since 2003.
First Banks owns the $10.1 billion-asset First Bank.
MIDDLE ATLANTICGreene County Bancorp Inc. of Catskill, N.Y., said that Donald Gibson would become its president and chief executive officer when J. Bruce Whittaker retires June 30.
Since 2003, Mr. Gibson has been the senior vice president of commercial and retail banking for the company's $310 million-asset Bank of Greene County, which he joined in 1987.
Greene County Bancorp also said Michelle Plummer, the chief financial officer of the company and the bank, would also become the chief operating officer of both July 1. She joined the company and the bank in 1999.
Greene County Bancorp also owns the $42 million-asset Greene County Commercial Bank.
SOUTHEASTAppalachian Bancshares Inc. of Ellijay, Ga., has promoted J. Keith Hales to chief financial officer and executive vice president of the company and its $758 million-asset Appalachian Community Bank.
Mr. Hales was the senior vice president of operations at Appalachian Bancshares, which he joined two years ago. Before that he had been the senior vice president of operations at Park Avenue Bank, a $1.1 billion-asset unit of PAB Bankshares Inc. in Valdosta.
Earlier he had held the same job at Southern National Bank, which United Community Banks Inc. of Blairsville bought last year.
He has 30 years of banking experience.
SOUTHWESTWhitney Holding Corp. of New Orleans has promoted John C. Hope 3rd to president and chief operating officer of the company and its $10.2 billion-asset Whitney National Bank.
He succeeded R. King Milling, who was named the vice chairman of the company and bank.
Mr. Hope also was named to succeed William L. Marks as the chief executive officer of the company and the bank when Mr. Marks retires in March.
Mr. Hope was Whitney's executive vice president of banking operations outside Louisiana. He joined the company in 1994 from AmSouth Bank, where he had been a south Alabama regional executive. (Regions Financial Corp. bought AmSouth Bancorp. in November.)
WESTWest Coast Bank of Lake Oswego. Ore., has promoted Laura McKay to senior vice president.
Ms. McKay remains in charge of treasury management products and services for the $2.5 billion-asset unit of West Coast Bancorp, a job she has held since last year. She joined the bank in 2000.
Heritage Bank of Commerce of San Jose has promoted Toby T. Cordone to senior vice president and named him its assistant regional manager for San Jose.
Mr. Cordone was a vice president and a commercial loan officer.
He joined the $1 billion-asset unit of Heritage Commerce Corp. in 1996 as a teller.
