MIDDLE ATLANTIC

Credit Suisse Group has hired Lance Babbit as a director and a senior portfolio manager for multimanager portfolios in its alternative investments group.

He was a managing director and the senior portfolio manager for multistrategies and customized solutions portfolios at Focus Investment Group. Before joining Focus in 2005 he had been a senior portfolio manager for four years at Deutsche Bank AG. Earlier he had been a vice president at Banc of America Securities LLC and a hedge fund analyst at JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Weiss, Peck & Greer.

Mr. Babbit is based in New York and reports to Ed Robertiello, the head of multimanager portfolios.


Root Markets Inc. of New York has hired Mark L. Korell as its chief marketing officer.

He reports to Marcia Myerberg, Root Markets' chief executive officer.

Mr. Korell joined the company from W.J. Bradley Co., a national private-equity firm, where he was a senior managing director. Before that he had been the chairman and an owner of Stonecreek Funding Corp.

Earlier in his career he had been the president of lender and investment services at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage Inc., where he oversaw the $3 billion acquisition of Prudential Home Mortgage. Before that he had been the president and CEO of GMAC Mortgage Group, and, still earlier, of Residential Funding Corp., a unit of GMAC Financial Services.


SOUTHEASTSouthern Trust Securities Holding Corp. of Miami has hired Fernando Fussa as the chief financial officer of the company and its registered broker-dealer and investment banking firm, Capital Investment Services Inc.

Mr. Fussa was the CFO of Citigroup Inc.'s international personal banking division. For 10 years before that he had been the controller, an assistant secretary, and a vice president of UBS Financial Services Inc., a Puerto Rico unit of UBS AG.


WESTMorgan Stanley has promoted Todd Locicero to regional manager of its Los Angeles private wealth management office.

Mr. Locicero, who will report to James Mahon, the head of private wealth management in its central and western regions, had managed the wealth adviser and practice management groups as an executive director in Morgan Stanley's global wealth management group since 2004.

Before joining Morgan Stanley in 2002, he had worked at Hambrecht & Quist and Robertson Stephens & Co.


INTERNATIONALDeutsche Bank Mexico has hired Francois Jaubert Luengas as a director and the head of equity sales in Mexico for its global markets division.

He will be based in Mexico City and report to Rupert Hope, the Deutsche Bank AG unit's head of emerging markets equity sales for the Americas.

Mr. Jaubert was the head of equity sales at Merrill Lynch Mexico.
