Merchants Bank of Burlington, Vt., has hired Molly Dillon as a senior vice president and the president and chief executive officer of its Merchants Trust Co.
Ms. Dillon was the senior vice president and managing director of the wealth management group at TD Banknorth Inc., a Portland, Maine, unit of Toronto-Dominion Bank. Before that she had been a regional manager at TD Banknorth. Earlier she was a senior vice president of administration in its wealth management group.
Merchants Bank has $1.1 billion of assets.
MIDWESTFirst Commonwealth Financial Corp. of Indiana, Pa., has hired J. Eric Renner as the executive vice president of consumer services for its $5.8 billion-asset First Commonwealth Bank.
Mr. Renner was the executive vice president and business banking state sales executive at National City Corp., where he oversaw business banking sales in Pennsylvania and Indiana, supervising 100 business banking and cash management officers. He also helped with Nat City's women-owned business program.
SOUTHEASTWhitney Holding Corp. of New Orleans has promoted John M. Turner Jr. to president of the $11 billion-asset company and its Whitney National Bank.
Mr. Turner had been the executive vice president of Gulf Coast banking since last year.
Before that he had been an executive vice president and the regional executive overseeing banking operations in Alabama, Mississippi, and northwestern Florida. Earlier he had been a senior vice president at AmSouth Bank, which Regions Financial Corp. bought in 2006.
WESTBank of Napa in California has promoted Tom LeMasters to president and chief executive officer and hired Larry Fletcher as an executive vice president and the chief credit officer.
Mr. LeMasters had been the $43 million-asset bank's interim president since August. Before that he had been an executive vice president and the chief financial officer.
Earlier he had been the CFO at Bank of Marin.
Mr. Fletcher was the senior vice president and credit hub manager for Vintage Bank. Earlier he had been a senior vice president and the chief credit officer at Solano Bank.
East West Bancorp Inc. of Pasadena, Calif., has hired Thomas J. Tolda as an executive vice president and the chief financial officer of the company and its East West Bank and promoted Julia Gouw to vice chairman and chief risk officer of the bank.
Mr. Tolda was the executive vice president and CFO of Wells Fargo Bank's consumer credit group, which he helped create. Before that he had been the CFO of Citibank Federal Savings Bank.
Ms. Gouw preceded Mr. Tolda as the CFO of the $11.8 billion-asset East West Bank, a job she has held since 1994. She plans to retire as the chief risk officer at yearend but will remain vice chairman.
She has worked for East West since 1989.
Sonoma Valley Bancorp in California has promoted Cathleen Gorham to executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Ms. Gorham will oversee the company's Sonoma Valley Bank branches, as well as compliance, technology, and human resources.
She had been a senior vice president and branch administrator since 2006. She joined the $298 million-asset bank in 1992 as the operations supervisor.
As the chief operating officer, she will succeed Mary Dieter Smith, who will remain an executive vice president and the chief financial officer.
