Fox-Pitt, Kelton Inc., a New York investment banking subsidiary of Swiss Reinsurance Co., has hired Margo L. Vignola as the head of its U.S. equities group.
Ms. Vignola came to Fox-Pitt, Kelton from Banc of America Securities Inc. She was a managing director and the associate director of U.S. research in the equity research department at the Bank of America Corp. unit.
Before that she had been the head of Americas research and a senior managing director at ABN Amro Bank NV. Earlier she had been the co-director of U.S. equity research at Merrill Lynch & Co. Still earlier she had been a managing director at the old Salomon Brothers Inc.
HSBC Bank USA of New York has hired Daniel O. Minerva as the head of treasury and securities financing, a new position.
Mr. Minerva, who has also been named a managing director at the HSBC Holdings PLC unit, was the global treasurer and a managing director at Lehman Brothers. Before that he had been a co-president and a co-chief executive officer at Eastbridge Capital Inc., a New York asset management and securities trading firm he co-founded in 1988.
Another HSBC Holdings unit in New York, HSBC Securities USA Inc., also announced a recent hire: Mary-Ellen O'Malley as the head of its syndicated finance group.
Ms. O'Malley was a vice president in the New York office of Banca Intesa, a unit of Italy's IntesaBci SpA. She helped oversee its loan syndication business in the United States and managed client transactions.
PNC Financial Services Group Inc. of Pittsburgh has hired Matt Carter as the head of strategic marketing and brand management, a newly created job, and Donna C. Peterman as the director of corporate communications.
They both were also named senior vice presidents.
Mr. Carter led marketing strategy at Leap Wireless International Inc. of San Diego. Before that he had been the chief marketing officer at Royal Bank of Canada's online bank, Security First Network Bank (which was later merged into RBC Centura Banks Inc.). Earlier he had held senior marketing and brand management positions at BellSouth Corp., Coca-Cola Co., and Bristol-Meyers Squibb Co., PNC said.
Ms. Peterman was the head of communications and branding for North and South America and a managing director at UBS Americas Inc. of Stamford, Conn. Before that she had been the director of corporate communications at PaineWebber Inc.'s financial services group and a senior vice president until UBS AG bought the firm in 2000.
SOUTHEASTRegions Financial Corp. of Birmingham, Ala., said that its head of corporate communications has been named to a three-year term on the communications council of the American Bankers Association.
Kristi Lamont Ellis, a senior vice president at Regions, joined it last year. Before that she had been a business reporter for The Birmingham News.
