NEW ENGLAND

Butler Bancorp, a Lowell, Mass., mutual holding company, said John H. Pearson Jr. has retired as the chairman of the board.

Mr. Pearson will oversee the business development and deposit relationships at its $204 million-asset Butler Bank and will serve as a liaison to the community.He had been the bank's president and chief executive officer from 1975 until last year, when Butler Bancorp bought Marlborough Co-operative Bank and Janet Bruno, Marlborough's president and CEO, succeeded him.

Mr. Pearson said he stepped down as the chairman to devote more time to his law firm, Pearson & Pearson LLP.


MIDDLE ATLANTICSusquehanna Financial Group of Bala Cynwyd, Pa., has hired Shawn Collins, Thomas McCaffrey, and Hank Weiss to its sales team in New York.

The three joined the company from the event-driven team at Citigroup Inc.

Mr. Collins was the head of event-driven research for Citi. Before that he had worked in the corporate finance group at Salomon Brothers. Earlier he had worked in the proprietary arbitrage group at Allen & Co.

Mr. McCaffrey worked in sales, trading, and research as a member of the Citi team. Before that he had assisted with risk arbitrage at Wachovia Securities.

Mr. Weiss was the head of the Citi team's event-driven sales trading. Before that he had worked in risk arbitrage at Credit Suisse First Boston.

Susquehanna has $7.4 billion of assets.

 


 North Jersey Community Bank of Englewood Cliffs, N.J., has hired Alejandra Pazmino as its vice president of business development.

Ms. Pazmino was a branch manager and the business development officer at Valley National Bank.

She will be based in Englewood Cliffs and Fort Lee, the $362 million-asset North Jersey Community said.

 


 S&T Bancorp Inc. of Indiana, Pa., has hired Amy M. Brubaker as the assistant vice president and community banking manager of an S&T Bank branch in Brookville.

Ms. Brubaker was a sales manager in DuBois for Beneficial Finance, a lending arm of HSBC Holdings PLC. Before that she had been a senior account manager for Beneficial in DuBois and in Denver. Earlier she had been a field representative overseeing marketing and advertising initiatives for the University of Maryland's European division in Suffolk, England.

S&T Bancorp has $4.4 billion of assets.
