F&M Bank in Virginia Opens Lending Offices

Farmers & Merchants Bank in Timberville, Va., is expanding its footprint in the Shenandoah region.

The $553 million-asset bank said Tuesday that it has opened loan production offices in Fishersville and Penn Laird, Va.

Farmers & Merchants said it expects to add one or more lenders to its Fishersville office, which opened Monday and is staffed by a commercial loan officer. In September, the bank opened the Penn Laird office, which houses three officers who provide automotive loans for customers company-wide via a network of roughly 30 dealers.

"We're gratified by the reception we are already receiving from the automobile dealers and commercial customers in these two new markets for F&M Bank," Dean Withers, Farmers & Merchants' chief executive, said in a news release. "It is an exciting time for us as we continue to grow and expand on the community banking foundation that was first started by a group of enterprising farmers and merchants over 100 years ago."

Farmers & Merchants has full-service branches in eight cities throughout Rockingham, Page and Shenandoah counties.
