FDIC Set to Issue Status Report

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. will give a status report today on the industry's long road to recovery.

The Quarterly Banking Profile, scheduled for a 10 a.m. release in Washington, will report on banks and thrifts' third-quarter earnings.

In August, the agency reported that the industry had lost $3.7 billion in the second quarter, while institutions on the problem list had increased 36%, to 416.
