Fidelity National Information Services (FIS) is going the consumer route with its remote deposit capture solution, Xpress Deposit. Once considered an unlikely (and uninterested) prospect, the home-based consumer is now becoming one of the keener targets for institutions looking for means to get customers using electronic channels. Besides FIS, Fiserv’s CheckFree unit also has a consumer-specific RDC product that it markets to institutions. Hardware vendors like Digital Check have also catered to downstreaming trends by offering simpler and more affordable single-check scanning equipment for the individual or SOHO market.
FIS’ first client for consumer remote capture is First Command Bank of Fort Worth, TX, with several expected to go online in the next 60-to-90 days, according to FIS.
FIS, of course, also offers RDC to the primary RDC audience of business users.
