Fidelity of Kansas Has Deal with LifeLock

Fidelity Bank of Wichita has agreed to use identity theft prevention services from LifeLock Inc. of Tempe, Ariz.

LifeLock announced Friday that Fidelity would offer the services to its 60,000-plus customers in Kansas and Oklahoma.

The vendor provides fraud monitoring at all the major credit agencies and requires potential creditors to obtain authorization from consumers before issuing any credit or changing any personal details, such as address. It also removes users' names from mailing lists for pre-approved credit offers.

The Federal Trade Commission has listed identity theft as its fastest-growing crime for seven consecutive years. Such theft cost consumers more than $1.1 billion last year, the FTC said.

LifeLock also offers a $1 million guarantee for its services — a factor that Fidelity cited in choosing the vendor.

"We recognize the importance of making additional protection available to protecting our most important assets — our customers and our employees — and keeping their identities secure is imperative," Al Sanchez, Fidelity's senior vice president of marketing, said in a press release. "We recognize the preventative service that LifeLock offers to be one of the best in the industry, and the fact that they back it up with a $1 million guarantee is additional peace of mind."
