Fifth Third Unit Promotes Pair To Executive Vice President

Fifth Third Bank has promoted James J. Hudepohl and Gerald L. Wissel to executive vice president.

Mr. Hudepohl, who has been senior vice president since 1987, is responsible for all the Cincinnati bank's business applications, which include loans, deposits, trusts, investments, human resources, and information computer systems. He joined the bank in 1975 as a systems analyst.

Mr. Wissel has been senior vice president since 1991. He is Fifth Third Bancorp's director of audit, overseeing auditing activities in the retail, commercial, and trust and investment services areas, and at the Midwest Payment Systems electronic fund transfer processing subsidiary.

Before joining the bank, he was a certified public accountant and senior manager at Deloitte & Touche.

The holding company also promoted two managers to vice president at Midwest Payment Systems.

Stephen J. Lorenz is systems manager for the Onlines Group, responsible for credit card and electronic funds transfer development. He joined the bank in 1980 as a systems programmer.

John A. Romer is the sales support manager, responsible for the technical support of sales. He joined Fifth Third in 1985 as a bank associate, and was promoted to electronic sales representative in 1986.
