First Midwest Securities Inc. in Bloomington, Ill., has hired J. Eric Hagler as president.
Hagler, who was general counsel and an equity partner for Crowell, Weedon & Co. of Los Angeles, will be based in the First Midwest's Newport Beach, Calif., office.
Terry Buffalo, the company's chief executive officer, said in a press release Monday that Hagler will focus on expanding its investment adviser platform, FMSI Advisers.
The top five banks and thrifts have combined total assets of nearly $13 trillion.
