First Midwest Bancorp Inc. of Itasca, Ill., said Thursday that John M. O'Meara, its chief executive officer, has been elected chairman as well. He succeeded his brother, Robert P. O'Meara, who is now the vice chairman.
Michael L. Scudder, First Midwest's chief financial officer, has been promoted to the newly created position of president and chief operating officer. Paul F. Clemens, its chief accounting officer, was picked to succeed Mr. Scudder as the CFO.
The $8.2 billion-asset company said that it made the changes as part of its succession planning.
First Midwest made similar changes in its primary subsidiary, First Midwest Bank. Thomas J. Schwartz was promoted to president and chief operating officer. He was the bank's group president of commercial banking for First Midwest Bank. The company also hired Cynthia A. Lance as its corporate secretary. Most recently she held a similar job at the Chicago Board of Trade.
