Insurers and lenders will have an opportunity to tell HUD just what they think of its fair lending initiatives during a series of four public meetings it has scheduled across the country through October 27. Roberta Achtenberg, HUD assistant secretary for fair housing and equal opportunity, will hear oral presentations on discrimination on property insurance under the Fair Housing act, namely practices that may be discriminatory, specific provisions within the regulation, disclosure requirements and best practices. The meetings, which are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., begin in Chicago Aug. 18, and will be followed by forums in San Francisco Sept. 22, Atlanta Oct. 18 and Boston Oct. 27.
