GreenPath Acquires Texas-Based Credit Counseling Firm

Credit counseling agency GreenPath Inc., a non-profit firm also doing business as GreenPath Debt Solutions, has acquired Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) of Greater San Antonio. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

GreenPath is headquartered in Farmington Hills, Mich., but operates more than 50 full-time branch offices in 11 states. With the acquisition, it has offices in five Texas cities -including San Antonio, Corpus Christi, McAllen, Brownsville and Harlingen.

Paul Denham, chairman of the board for the former CCCS of Greater San Antonio, said the acquisition was a logical choice for his organization and the community. CCCS had served San Antonio since 1984.

"GreenPath's San Antonio office will continue to serve consumers through free face-to-face appointments and financial education presentations," Denham said. "That was important to the board."

GreenPath was founded in 1961. The company's literature states it provides services include debt and credit counseling, financial education, budgeting, housing counseling, bankruptcy counseling and debt management programs.

"We are excited about offering our services to the residents of San Antonio," said Rus Halsey, GreenPath director of operations. "We'll get involved in the local community. We look forward to partnering with local organizations and finding new ways to add value to residents."
