GSEs Seek Suspension of Foreclosures

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac said Thursday that they have told their servicers and foreclosure attorneys to suspend all foreclosure sales and evictions from single-family homes scheduled for Nov. 26 to Jan. 9.

The suspension is meant to keep troubled borrowers in their homes while the government-sponsored enterprises implement the streamlined loan modification programs announced last week. Those programs are to begin Dec. 15.
