Hearing Slated on Small Business, CRE Losses

The Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee will host a roundtable discussion Wednesday on small businesses' struggles to obtain credit.

The 10 a.m. session will focus on how commercial real estate losses are reducing banks' lending capacity. Participants will include Ronald Paul, the chief executive of Eagle Bank Corp. in Bethesda, Md.; William Askew, senior executive vice president for quality performance for Regions Financial Corp. in Birmingham, Ala.; James Arbury, senior vice president for government affairs at the National Multi Housing Council; Jeffrey DeBoer, president and CEO of the Real Estate Roundtable; and Rep. Walt Minnick, D-Idaho.
