Joseph J. MarcAurele, former president of Citizens Bank, was appointed president and CEO of Washington Trust Bancorp in Westerly, R.I.

BB&T Corp. named Cindy Powell as its new corporate controller, succeeding Ed Vest, who is stepping down for health reasons.

John F. Barrett resigned from Fifth Third Bancorp's board of directors. Barrett is chairman, president and CEO of Western & Southern Financial Group.

Regions Financial has moved chief credit officer Michael Willoughby to director of credit risk, and is seeking a replacement. Timothy Laney, senior vice president and head of business services, will fill in as interim chief credit officer.

Houston-based Amegy Bank of Texas elevated Suzie Jones to executive vice president over the bank's investments division.
